Hi! I'm Lia Bulaong and this is my blog, where I've been obsessing about pop culture, technology, art, literature, design, politics, and their various intersections on and off since 2000. My favorite neighborhood in all of New York City is the Lower East Side. I love dogs, science fiction, napping, bare feet on grass, and ice cubes that are perfectly cubed. My favorite scent on myself is sunblock, and I haven't worn pants since 2008.
I graduated from NYU's Interactive Telecommunications Program in 2005; my master's thesis project at ITP was 24in48, a group photography project that captured the lives of 24 people over a 48 hour span in a city, interrogating the nature of public and private space live online. I make my living as a freelance writer, web designer and developer.
All entries dated between 1998 and 2008 were originally published on my original blog at cheesedip.com, a domain I sadly no longer own. Only a handful out of the thousands of posts from that time period are currently on this site; I hope to publish most of them here eventually.
Heather Champ and Caroline van Oosten de Boer were my inspirations to start blogging in 1999, and Ranjit Bhatnagar was the first person to really get me excited about doing personal stuff on the web in 1995—which was over half my lifetime ago! They're all three of them incredibly lovely people I'm proud to still be friends with today.
You can leave a comment on any entry if you have something to say about it, of course, but if you'd like to get in touch with me, you can send an email to hello (at) lliiaa.com, or reach me on Twitter. I can't guarantee a response, but I promise I will read your message!
